Jesus said, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth
speaks.” This simply says your speech is an exact indicator
of the condition of your heart.
A corrupt heart will eventually be exposed by corrupt
speech. If the tongue is not controlled by God, it is a sure
indicator that heart is not either.
As Vance Havner used to say, What’s in the well comes
up in the bucket. Proverbs says watch over your heart with all
diligence. As a young boy we used to sing, “Oh be careful
little tongue what you say.”
Makes sense to me.
