Have you ever given much thought to the cross?
The cross of Christ? In our days, in so many ways,
we’ve cheapened the heart and meaning of that cross.
We’ve even made it a piece of jewelry, a do-dad
on a shelf or even a tee shirt decoration.
That cross was an awful, hideous, horrendous way
to kill a man. I don’t believe it’s wrong to wear a cross
around your neck or set it on a shelf but make it a
priority to let it remind you of the great love of God
that put Jesus there.
Hebrews 12.2 says, “…Jesus, the author and finisher
of our faith who for the joy set before Him, endured
the cross, despising the shame and has set down
at the right hand of God.”
Want some more good news? In the words of
Alistair Begg, “Jesus went to the cross willingly.
He did not go there helplessly.”
Hallelujah, What a savior!
